RESIDENTIAL - IS Basic Uncapped ADSL Broadband

IS Basic Uncapped ADSL Broadband

The newly re-released IS Basic Lite Uncapped ADSL solutions are aimed at subscribers looking for a fast, affordable internet connection with no cap restrictions. International bandwidth is supplied by the Seacom undersea fibre optic cable.
Be aware that these Uncapped ADSL accounts are not recommended for heavy volume download users (people who are looking to run automated downloads for long periods of time). If you are aiming to download high volumes, take a look at our After Hours accounts.

* A new 24/7 Fair Usage Policy from IS applies to these accounts. Usage is monitored on a 10 day rolling period that does not reset at the end of the month. If you have a 384k, 512k or 1024k Basic Lite account and fall into the top 20% of IS users for your account speed, you will be shaped. If you have a 4096k Basic Lite account and fall into the top 50% of IS users for your account speed, you will be shaped. For more details, please see below.

** The Basic accounts now support 2 concurrent connections. Two concurrent connections with the same username sessions from different locations are allowed, with the 'peak information rate' being divided between the two sites. In other words, your potential account speed is halved and shared between the two connections (so one 4Meg connection could be used from two locations giving each location a 2Meg connection).

Internet Solutions Basic Lite Uncapped ADSL Fair Usage Policy & Additional Account Information

The IS Basic Lite Uncapped ADSL accounts offer a unique management option, allowing them to function on any line speed. This means that the Peak Information Rate (PIR) will be managed according to the product type, allowing for improved flexibility for the subscriber.

Maintaining a fair service for all is managed by the Internet Solutions adaptive rolling 10 day policy and not a monthly limit. Each product set is exclusively managed, allowing for a fair service for all rather than allowing heavy users the ability to degrade the service for the majority.

The service allows two simultaneous connections. If used concurrently, the Peak Information Rate (PIR) will be halved between the two connections.

The usage is monitored on a rolling 10 day period and does not reset at the beginning of each month. All service options are unshaped. Should usage remain less than 80% of the average, the service will remain unaffected. Should individual usage exceed 80% of the average then the first level of moderation will be implemented, moving the service to a shaped service. Shaping or moderation is implemented via download throttling and user relative priority control will first be applied to all file sharing protocols. Should usage remain above the 80% average threshold, additional shaping will be managed via manipulation of throttling and priority control. The 4096 Lite is managed at 50% of the average and is designed for light users who still require high speed access to the internet.
